Helping Hands

At the heart of the Discovery ChalleNGe Academy is the commitment of our student-cadets to serve the community. When enrolling at DCA, each student-cadet commits to a minimum of 40 hours of service to community during the 22-week residential phase of the academy. Often times students serve 80 or more hours, doubling the minimum requirement.

Engaging in service to community provides students with the opportunity to become active members of their community and experience first hand the positive impact of their contributions.  While completing service to community, student-cadets practice  number of skills including: leadership, problem-solving, time management, communication, and collaboration skills which allow them to connect classroom learning to real life application. In addition, students develop responsible citizenship as they begin to understand their role in the global community.
