United Way of San Joaquin (UWSJC) is proud to serve as a partner with our nonprofit agencies in supporting those programs and services that helps others in our community. Since 1926, our grant funding has supported countless agencies advance their own mission and vision. This year we are using a new lens as part of the grant application process. Our new grants are called Social Impact Grants – aiming to improve the societal challenges which exist in San Joaquin County.
In particular, UWSJC is taking a laser focus on two important issues in San Joaquin County - homelessness and education. We see both intertwined; in that education, or lack of education can lead to homelessness. Advancing the economic mobility of families through affordable housing and education is critical. We know that one in every three households in California (over 3.3. million families) struggle month to month to meet just the basic needs.
What we do know is that one agency can never solve these problems alone. We need relationships and partnerships to shift the tide of poverty and limited education. As a part of our Bold Moves Strategic Plan, UWSJC’s aim will be to serve as an active partner and convener with all nonprofits to collectively make a difference.
We are thankful for your interest in our new Social Impact Grant process and hope that you take the opportunity to apply. Funding will be announced by July, 2019.
