Bold Moves E-Newsletter, Fall 2019

United Way of San Joaquin County (UWSJC) is quickly turning into the Modern United Way. Our BOLD MOVES strategy is at the heart of what we do everyday-We are becoming a better organization, we are optimizing our work, we are leading and delivering on our promise. At our recent California United Ways State meeting, our agenda was rich with a major focus on economic mobility of families, foster care support, housing and homelessness.

On a daily basis we are making lives better by loudly advocating for our nonprofits and connecting with others so we can impact the quality of lives for families and individuals in our county. Public policy is fast becoming a priority for United Ways across our state and here in SJ County. In 2019, United Ways of California actively sponsored over 31 bills and sponsored legislation for these two-year bills in the state of California. They included; policy headed to the Governors desk for helping children enter school ready to learn, promoting asset building and home ownership, and strengthening community capacity to advance the common good. So health, education and financial stability on a statewide level is a major part of what we do.

The key word is collective...collectively we can impact our cities, collectively we can create sustainable communities and together we can make a difference. Our workplace campaigns are strong and growing as is our fund development, but our goals are charted to reach even greater heights for the sake of our nonprofits. And, if you read this please share back with us your thoughts on our future. We welcome ALL feedback.

All My Best,
Kristen Spracher-Birtwhistle
President/CEO of UWSJC
